Mission Statement
The mission of the Eden II/Genesis Programs is to provide people with
autism specialized community-based
programs and other opportunities, with the
goal of enabling them to achieve the
highest possible quality of living across
their life spans.
Our Background
During the spring of 1976, a group of
parents of children with autism set out to
identify educational settings that could
effectively serve their children. After
visiting many agencies in the tri-state
area, the parent group identified a highly
successful program - the Eden Institute,
located in Princeton, New Jersey. |
|
The parent group incorporated a private,
non-profit school for children with autism.
The school, located in Staten Island,
New York was called the Eden II School
for Autistic Children. It opened in
November 1976 with 6 students, one special
education teacher and a director. In 1995,
the Genesis School, replicating twenty
years of effective service, was set up in
Plainview, New York.
The Eden II instructional program
is modeled after the program of the Eden
Institute in Princeton. There are, however,
no legal or financial ties between the two
agencies. Each has a separate Board of
Directors and operates as a separate
corporate entity.
Over the years, Eden II programs has
remained committed to meeting the changing
needs of individuals with autism and their
families. At the present time, the Eden II
Programs serve more than 200 families of
individuals with autism through several
programs. Eden II currently has two school
programs, a preschool program, an adult
services program, children and adult
residential services as well as an
extensive family support program.
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
The Eden II Programs, in accordance to the regulations spelled out
in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (1996),
